|要約(Abstract) ||:||The purpose of this paper is to clarify the source of the Japanese concept of Yogo, meaning protection, nursing or protective care, and its pedagogic positioning in Immanuel Kant's "Lecture-notes on Pedagogy". Previous research on Yogo covered European and U.S. pedagogy since Herbart's pedagogical method was introduced to Japan. This paper examined the concept of Yogo shown in Immanuel Kant's "Lecture-notes on Pedagogy"
before "Herbart's pedagogy". As a result, I found "uncertainty" of words in the original and its translations. However, from the modern viewpoint of Yogo one can assume that multiple synonyms used can be regarded as Yogo. In addition, from "Kant's Pedagogy", it is found that Yogo is human action as education. This study also found that Yogo is connected to discipline, and represents actions that lead to formation of a human being, which is the final goal of education. From the above, I derive the conclusion that Yogo is included in education in "Kant's Pedagogy".|
